skin fix: bliss the youth as we know it
I'm a big believer in Bliss skincare; its Triple Oxygen Facial, which gives an immediate fresh and dewy glow, is one of my all-time favorite products. So I was definitely psyched to try The Youth as We Know It regimen, which is inspired by their inhouse spa Youth as We Know facial (known as the 'little black dress' facial, it's said to boost radiance without any irritation, making it perfect for red-carpet events).
The Youth as We Know It skincare line – (gotta love those cheeky-sounding product names; this one just screams 50s educational film to me) – features all the skin-boosting stuff known to Bliss to fight aging and is comprised of five key products: a cleanser, toner, concentrate, face cream and an eye cream. The cleanser is a creamy, whipped concoction that feels a bit like the texture of Noxzema and with its subtle grapefruity scent, is just as refreshing to use. It's got quite a lovely feel on the skin and removes makeup while imparting a subtle radiance. The toner is really unique among most toners – it has a gel-like consistency that you apply with a cotton pad while it's still damp post-cleansing. It seems to tighten pores (great for us oily-skinned gals) and preps skin to receive the maximum benefits of the concentrate and cream. The third step is the concentrate and this was my favorite product of the bunch. It's like a serum so it's not thick but delivers immediate moisture and radiance, giving a luminous glow.
Next up is the powerhouse cream, which was the first-ever The Youth as We Know It product. This stuff contains a long list of age-fighters (some of which I've never even heard of) including peptides, visual facial fillers, hyperdermal detressors, vitazyme A and a multifruit complex. I find it to be quite thick and rich so I only use it at night and am quite pleased with its mega-moisturizing power. The last step in the regimen is the eye cream, which I've been using at night. I quite liked this stuff too; even when I haven't had a perfect night's sleep, the cream seems to help perk up my eyes so the bags and undereye circles aren't as noticeable.
All told, I've been using the regimen for a couple of weeks, and while I haven't noticed a huge transformation in my skin, it does look a bit more radiant than before I started using it. I'm usually a bit wary of trying anti-aging regimens because my skin tends to be oily, but luckily this line didn't cause any breakouts. I'll continue using it and report on my progress as the weeks go on, so check back here for an update!
