I fancy myself a fashion police of sorts. I also enjoy watching the actual Fashion Police (a.k.a. Khloe Kardashian, Joan Rivers, Guiliana Rancic, and Jay Manuel) on the E! channel following awards shows. A word to the wise to Joan Rivers: You have had your moment. It is time to pass your 90-year-old torch on to a younger {and less nipped, tucked, and Botoxed} fashion critic. Plus, you always talk about how "chubby" actresses are. Like, you said that Kate Winslet has "a weight problem." You're done in my book.
Nicole Richie was probably the best dressed of the night for me in her 60's inspired beaded Reem Acra gown. She looked gorgeous. The hair was perfection, although the makeup was a little too Twiggy-esque, but she still pulled it off.Anyway...
Oh, how I love awards season. I look forward to my weekly magazines coming in the mail so I can pour over the fashion do's and don'ts of the previous awards ceremony. I just wish the Rachel Zoe Project was back on t.v. so I could see awards season from her ever-clever, and always fashionable, point of view. Here are some of my worst and best dressed from the Oscars:
Disclaimer:
Some of you may not agree with me...
Surprise of the night: Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham. Her makeup was flawless and I thought this dress was fantastic. Although I would make two modifications: The bodice was a little tight and, Miley, please stand up straight.
Oh, Charlize. You are too pretty for this bridesmaid-dress-meets-Madonna-cone-bra ensemble. {Dior Couture} Sorry, darling. Worst dressed of the night.
Okay. Props to Kristen Stewart for actually trying, and for pulling her mullet into an updo for once. This Monique Lhuillier gown is gorgeous, except where are the jewels? She needs some accessorizing. Stat.
People might hate me for this one. I do not like this dress on Penelope Cruz {Donna Karan Couture}. It looks like a prom dress and the color is not ideal, although she does look good in everything, this was just a bizarre choice for the Oscars. Check her out at the Golden Globes though:
This Giorgio Armani Prive gown is probably my all time favorite from awards season. Flawless.
Now for Sandra Bullock in Marchesa. The more I look at the dress, the more I like it. My favorite part of the whole thing is the sleek hair and pink-red lipstick. It looks fab on her. I can't decide if I like her better at the SAG awards {Alexander McQueen}. The cobalt blue sequins and shoulder pads are kind of awesome.
Well, there's my recap. Hope you enjoyed it!
